Girls are expected to like to dress up and pretend to act like ladies. They are not expected to not mind to get dirty. They don’t wear boy’s clothes and they exhibit proper manners. Scout dresses up like Jem because he is her role model. She was never taught properly about being a girl because of their mother being dead. She grew up around to many boys and started to act like them. She got into fights, wasn’t afraid to talk back, and didn’t mind getting dirty clothes. She was unlike any other girl that was displayed in the story. Boys were more respected and had more rights than women. Women were treated as if they were weaker than or not nearly as strong as a man. Nowadays, boys and girls are treated equally at everything. Both sexes have proved to be good at anything or “anything you can do, I can do better”. An example of equality is that it is forbidden to strike a women when it wasn't back then.

In to kill a mocking bird, girls are treated differently than guys in a way that is different from ours today. Girls were treated back then with less respect. They didn't get to do very much, compared from what they can do today. There are still places in the world that have the same placement for women then and now. In other places, it's other wise. There are a lot more options women can do now, they can choose what career they want, vote and do a lot more of stuff. The women now are less dependent on the men than they use to be. They use to be so controlled and they couldn't really do what ever they wanted. They didn't have as much freedom as the men. Now in most places, the women can do whatever the men can do. The world has made the laws and rules to where everyone is equal and fair in today's society

Back then, rules between adults and children were very strict. Children didn't have as much freedom as kids today do. Especially with school. The teachers were hard on the students. They wanted to make sure that the students they got to teach, grew up to actually be somebody, and I/m not saying the teachers of today aren't the same. It's just the fact that back then, teachers ran things a bit more strict and they taught at hard times. Such as the Dust Bowl and The Great Depression. At those times, even the students were.t living in the best ways. But as of today, children have a lot more freedom. New clothing styles have been introduced to us, almost ninety-eight percent of the world's teens own touch phones. Back then, kids didn't even have the privileges to carry phones everywhere they go. Since then, the generation of kids have definitely changed.

Boys in TKAM do less and are more civilized in ways than today. Of course back in this time, women had certain restrictions than men such as not to vote. In the book, Scout says that boys don’t cook when Francis said his grandmother, Aunt Alexandra, would teach him how to cook her food. Later on after his, Jem sees Atticus shoot down Tim Johnson with one shot and soon after that, Jem starts to look up to his father by saying “Atticus is a gentleman! Just like me!” It’s here that we now see Jem grow and learn. This shows a big difference to how boys are today. From my experience, boys today tend to be more immature and childish despite reaching their teens but they do seem to do more things that can help them socially. First off, a lot of boys don’t seem to mind hanging out with girls a lot today but in TKAM Jem is irritated by the fact that Jem is becoming more like a girl and says if she keeps acting like one, she will have to hang out with other girls. Then there is the girls in TKAM and how they’re different from today. From what we get form Scout’s personality she seems more immature and childish as most boys are today for example, when Scout punches Cecil Jacobs for saying Atticus defends Negroes. Atticus tells her to stop that as she is too old for something like that. Girls today, actually, are more mature than Scout is or any other girl in TKAM and it has been proven. So back then, boys were mature while girls were not but it is vice versa for today.

In To Kill a Mockingbird, girls are expected to be very ladylike. They are expected not to run, climb trees, get muddy, or do any of the things that boys could do. Boys, on the other hand, are expected to work and help their parents.

In To Kill A Mocking bird: girls were expected to cook and clean and were expected to stay at home and take care of the kids and the house, girls who act like scout are sometimes looked down upon because they don’t act like proper lady’s but rowdy tomboys. Girls are expected to wear dresses and not overalls.

Boys are usually more immature and childish. However Boys also just have more fun hanging out and causing mayhem together. Also, guys, when reaching Teen age they enjoy to hang out with girls a lot, they tend to hang out with both genders. However, in the book, Jem is irritated by the fact that Scout is becoming more like a girl and says if she keeps acting like one, she will have to hang out with other girls. Except, back then Boys were expected to be the man of the house and have full responsibility over a lot but now the women can help.

The difference between the genders in To Kill a Mockingbird is that all the women don’t have real jobs in the story. The only Women that I can think of that has a real job is Calpurnia because she is the “Nanny” for the finch family. Men have real important jobs like how Atticus is a Lawyer. The Boys in the story seem more disciplined then they are today because they haven’t done things that I don’t think would be bad, they’ve done what people have asked them to do and they haven’t complained. Scout seems to follow along with the boys and fit along with them but Aunt Alexandra thinks that she shouldn’t be doing that. So over the years girls have become more like boys because it is normal to see girls doing guy things on their own, for example: girls can join the military today. Guys have had the same treatment as they did in the story.

In To kill a mockingbird women aren't treated cruelly per say, but they are looked down upon by men. Its as if men are silently telling them all the time that without them supporting the women, they'd be out in the streets. boys/men are treated with respect as long as you serve a purpose in helping the town in TKAM. However African american men in TKAM are treated like nobody's, so in Atticus's case when he helped Tom Robinson (a black man) he was threatened and insulted. Women in real life are not nearly as looked down upon as they were back when to kill a mockingbird took place. Men are basically the same other than now it doesn't matter whether you have black skin or white skin, you're the same.

Girls were treated with less respect during that time period . They couldn't do as much as they can in the America or international schools although some places in the world have not changed their opinion on how much girls can learn. To a certain extent their has been dramatic change in society today, due to the fact that women dont always have to act like ladies and can play sports. Aunt Alexandra is one of the people in the book who believe that being a tomboy is bad which most of the people today have accepted due to the variety of sports women can choose to play and be televised. Back in the day they would have been looked upon with disdain because of what they do, but now some people prefer watching women's sports over men sport.

Boy's and girls are treated differently and this is shown in To Kill a Mocking Bird as well as in modern life. In the novel, this is shown when for example scout had to put on a dress to represent herself as a woman, and jem had to wear his suit to the church. This is also shown in modern life. In todays society, Woman are expected to be modest and allow the men to pay for them, or open doors for them. On the other hand, men are expected to dress and act like gentlemen.

Boys in TKAM are supposed to act like a gentleman, work, and help their fathers. They are supposed to dress nice in some families and can wear whatever in others depending on how much money you have and the parents decisions. But now days boys wear a tshirt and jeans or whatever and other guys really don't mind what each other wear (unlike most girls). Most guys now just get along no matter how much money each other has unless they're really rich and stuck up. Girls in TKAM have to act all ladylike and dress in nice clothes or mostly dresses and skirts. But Scout wears more boyish clothes because she admires jem and her father. Now days girls wear whatever they want and they don't get judged by most people (besides other girls). Though girls back then would cover up more now days girls wear shorter and lighter weight things.

Girls and boys were treated differently back in 1930 than in the modern day world. Boys were expected to do manual labor, stay strong and be gentleman like.Girls were expected to cook, clean, were dresses, and act lady like. Boys now a days are less likely to do manual labor and are most of the time lazy. Girls in today's world, use their phones for everything whether it's social media or sms. People are less judging in 2014 than in 1930 because all the media and bizarre things back then became normal.

Back then boys and girls were expected to do something. Boys were supposed to be gentlemen, and be the stronghold of the house, work jobs, and get the money. While girls had to work at the house, and take care of the offspring(if had any), and weren't allowed to work. Nowadays, anybody can work everybody can do whatever they want, women can work jobs, and men could stay at home, and care for anything at home. In TKAM, women couldn't do much, only work at home, and couldn't be in the jury. Also men only worked, and the only women who worked were colored. Now it doesn't matter color, white, woman, or man, everybody is equal, to do what they please.

Back in the early-mid 1900's girls and boys were treated very differently. Girls are suppose to be proper and very lady like. Like when Aunt Alexandra says scout should be wearing dresses and girls clothes, they were expected to cook, clean and be very feminine and not do masculine tasks or they were looked down upon by society. They couldn't vote and didn't have the same rights as men did. Men had more rights than women did, they were expected to protect the family, hunt for food and keep a job to support their family. Nowadays women can vote, men cook fro their families, women can have the jobs and males can be the stay at home fathers. the roles are very versatile now.

They way boys and girls were treated in 'To Kill a Mockingbird' is very different in today's society. In the timezone of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' not many females work in Maycomb, because they should be at home home doing housework and taking care of children. Another thing is when there is a single father taking care of his own children. In that situation, they would usually send a female (Tries to be a relative) to take care and help the children.
