Krebs was a war veteran who came back home a changed man. Krbes had to lie about what happened to him in the war to make war not seem as a horrible and brutal events but as acceptable events in order to fit in with society again. Because his lies were unimportant, people did not care for Krebs' stories. He never worked through his expericnes, so he became a recluse and depressed, and gave up on his future. This led Krebs to give up on his loved ones as well as his future.

In "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," J. Alfred Prufrock is talking about how he is trying to get a girl to spend the rest of his life with but every girl is talking about how he is losing his hair and how skinny he is. This is an anti-hero story because in the end he doesn’t get the girl and he believes death is laughing at him. “No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be….” I believe he is saying that he knows that he is not the best looking in the world and he accepts that.

Alfred Prufrock is an anti-hero because he is on his way to meet a woman to ask a certain question, and he never accomplishes his goal. The poem looks at the themes of emotion, doubt, and losing time and youth. He cannot relate to women, and always doubts himself and his choices. He fears commitment and questions himself over and over. He never really accomplishes his doubts; they just add up and create more problems. He is always comparing himself to Hamlet. He asks his "to be or not to be?" question, discussing his choices with himself.

It was noted that in the story “Death of a hired man” that Krebs was a war veteran who came back home different than before. He was told to lie about what really happened in the war so it wouldn’t seem as brutal as the war really was. But in fact, no one ever believed his stories which caused him to become depressed and recluse and he even gave up on his own future. This eventually led to him giving up on somebody that he loves.

In the story “Soldiers Home” we know about a man who came back from war and he was a veteran. He went a completely different man than he came back home to be. He was changed at war and something happened that was not mentioned in the story that had changed him very much by the time he had come back. He didn’t care about his family and his life very much anymore after he had come back and only had interest for his sister and barely anything else. He lost the interests in life and his family. Since being in the war and he probably saw many dangerous things or things that were hard to deal with he didn’t get help when he had come back and he didn’t speak to someone about what had happened which then lead to him becoming less interested in life and depressed from keeping all his negative feelings and emotions in they were trapped inside him and he should have gotten help to prevent becoming depressed. In the next story "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, he was a man who had little to no self esteem. He was always thinking and worried how others saw him and judged him. He was to self conscious about himself, which had gotten him nowhere. The story ended by him giving up in finding a pretty girl because he let all his insecurities get in the way. Nobody should let all their insecurities get in the way of finding love.

In a "Soldier's Home" Krebs went to war as one man and came back as an entirely different one. When reading the story we know a little of the characters backstory and what his interests are. We are told of hobbies he likes to do and most importantly that he loves girls........a lot. But after returning from the war, he was completely changed. He was an anti-hero essentially. The war made him more depressed and made him lose interest in girls and enjoying leisure activities. He had to lie about the events that happened in WW1 just so people didn't hate him and exclude him. We don't exactly know what happens to him in WW1 but he is definitely changed due to it. It's not the typical hero story we hear of where the soldier comes home to open family arms, lots of girls, journalists and publishers, etc. It is a rather realistic sad story. His future will always be changed.

“The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” is a story of a man that hast lost all faith in himself. J Alfred Prufrock, throughout the story, tried to get with many girls but is not willing to talk to any of them. His actions make him a true anti-hero. He is not willing to make a move, he is very unconfident and most importantly he has no hope. Every time he thinks of talking to a girl, he finds an excuse about himself that he thinks will turn the girl away. “They will say: ‘But how his arms and legs are thin’” He thinks that he won’t be able to attract the girls because of his thin legs and arms. J. Alfred Prufrock is a true anti-hero.
