For this annotation, you will submit, with proper MLA format, the main ideas of one of the literary critics. Your annotation should include the major points as well as an inclusion of quotes from the critical essay itself. 250 words.
Select 1 of the two poems by Johnson ("Life Every Voice and Sing" or "Brothers") and discuss how they create parallels with themes discussed in the novel. Use specific support from both novel and poem/song. 200 words.
In the novel, Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man, Johnson utilizes three events to broaden the discussion of the race question: the conversation between the narrator and the millionaire as he plans to return to America, the conversation between the narrator and the doctor whom he meets on board the ship and travels with initially, and the smoking car conversation on the train. In your blog, select a position from each situation and develop what you think is Johnson's goal in presenting these viewpoints.
Using Ex-Colored Man, Hurston and Staples, develop how race and public space develops in these pieces. You should have three quotes (at least 1 from the novel) and develop a clear thesis and support. 200 words.
