( I didn't know if I was supposed to mention the flag burning topic anywhere in this, due to my other not mentioning anything on the topic either.)

This is a great annotation! Good job! I suggest that next time you do an annotation, talk about the author' occupation/status as a writer (ethos) and explain how his standing affected his writing. Just mentioning his occupation would give the audience an idea perhaps :)

I like how you had dialogue with you're second two quotes, you didn't just state it and leave it as is. I would suggest you do that with your first one as well. Your idea was well portrayed and depicted very well. Good Job.

I agree that the flag means something different depending on ones perspective. Not everyone will see it as the symbol that represents the freedom of America. Like you said African Americans did not view it this way. It seems people's opinion of the flag is determined by how the nation has treated them and their experiences in general. I think you did a good job selecting and integrating quotes/examples.

I think that your piece could improve on it's organization. I cannot recognize where you identified the "central thread" from this essay. I can kind of see at the end where it almost is that you put in your own opinion, but the point wasn't analyzed to the appropriate extent where a point could be coined. Additionally, I think that your piece could improve and become more credible if you utilized some quotes from the passage.

I don't know if he is saying the flag has "holy value", but more that the flag has taken a role in the American society that a central religion holds in other countries.

I don't want to be too nit-picky but I think you should check over your spelling. for example you wrote: porportion. Sometimes you are on a roll but then there is a spelling mistake which may draw readers away from what you really want them to focus on.

I definitely agree with what you have written here. I feel as though you could elaborate a bit more on what the article said. I liked how when you wrote the quote, you expanded and explained it, that is a very good method to follow. You might want to think about incorporating a couple more quotes. Other than that, well done.
