As a person who enjoys reading, I have to say Ms. Moriconi's AP Lang. class is a fun but challenging class. In the class you will probably never encounter a deadline that you cannot meet, however, there are a lot of deadlines too meet, so it is important to make sure you stay ahead. My tips for the class are: 1) Do your work when it's due, don't let it pile up on you. 2) Stay organized with the books you receive, there are lots and you don't want to lose them. 3. Make sure to keep a binder and or notebook for AP Lang.; in the class we read lots of books and do a lot of analysis, so last but not least, make sure you pay attention to details and raise your hand to add your own thoughts and opinions to the classroom. One love (English).

I would have to say that I am the type of student to either get things done nearly the second it is assigned so i dont have to worry about it later on, or at other times to complete an assignment in the last day or two. I would have to say because of this my greatest strength is time management and being able to prioritize my work, yet at the same time my greatest weakness is procrastination and difficulty getting myself to start a project. My advice to any of you incoming AP Lang students is that you complete your assignments the day/night she assigns them (there is ALOT of homework) and dont sweat yourself over any one assigment too much, try to get the bulk of the work done before tackling a challenging piece so its less stress on you later.

Hi new AP Language students. Ms. Moriconi's class is fun and interesting. Here are somethings you might want to know if you are prepared for the class. In my experience i am a student that will progressively work. In other words i turn things in late. If your assignment is late the best thing is to go right up to Ms. Moriconi and inform her of your late work. Second get it done as soon as possible. Another good tip is with your essays never turn them in late. At the beginning of the year for your essays it is acceptable to integrate at least 3 quotes per body paragraph. Near the end of the year try to inpliment a 4th for each paragraph usually from the annotations you will do. the format should be like this 3 quotes from book then one from annotation and try to make a dialogue with the quotes. Throughly explain quotes and what they mean. Never go into 1st person unless it is a write your own arguement. Try to be active in the class and be up to date on your reading assignments. This is because the day you dont read is the day there is a quiz. Be sure to take notes they will help you in case you need to cross check things. Another part is do not complain about the work load because every year it is te same work load and you end doing it anyways. The overall tip that i could provide you with is try to improve your essay writing for the ap exam. Throughout the year you will be trained to write well processed essays in 40 minutes. Now with shortened time they do not expect perfect drafts but try to make clear thoughts and keep your work together. That is mostly what i can help you with, PS read what you have been assigned or one quiz could destroy you

Hi soon to be AP Lang student. There are a few things you need to know in order to survive your treacherous year ahead. I know as a former English 10 student of Mrs. Moriconi’s and finally graduate of her AP English Language class that hard work and concentration goes into our studies. I am a hard worker who likes to get assignments done right when they are given; this kind of mindset will be needed during the course of your time due to the fact that you will receive A LOT of paper work that is all useful in the plan that lies ahead. My weakness on the other hand is being lazy when it comes to concentration. Receiving numerous amounts of dead trees upon your desk, I know the last thing you want to do is actually go through them yourself and read them, but trust me when I tell you they will always come in useful for essays. Every miniscule item that you might think means nothing to you and your thoughts of how to write your essay will actually help and help you build off of it. There is always a method to Mrs. Moriconi’s madness.

As a student, I like to hold things off until the end. However, I’m sure we all know that procrastinating in general isn’t the best choice, especially when it comes to AP Language. It’d be best to start on the assignment the moment you receive it. So, just keep up with your assignments and don’t wait until the end of the quarter to turn everything in. Also, the notes you’ll take are very useful, so you should keep up with them. In other words don’t make your backpack into a huge filing cabinet where there is no order whatsoever.

I did pretty well in ths class, but the number one piece of advice I can give you is: get your work in on time. I was "that kid" who never had his work done, and it's harder than you'd think to catch up even without sports and other activities (plus, Ms. Moriconi will NOT appreciate late work).

My advice to students going into AP Language is to understand just how much work and time is needed to be put into this course. The work however much it is will always be collected and will receive credit, which is one of the best parts about the class. The work is also not busy work it actually has importance. I am a students who can work very diligently however if you put of assignments like I did sometimes it will hurt your grade unnecessarily. You should always do the reading and come to class prepared to take notes and be active in class.

I am a (usually) diligent student. I always take notes, and I always do my homework, even if it’s a little bit late. I could have bettered my performance in APLang if I had started the big quarter essay earlier and gone through more drafts. I’m very detailed and very organized. I’m not very good at the multiple choice parts of the practice exams that Ms. Moriconi gives us, and I could have done more to improve on that.
